NYSL offers a softball program for girls 5-14 in the Northbridge community. It all starts with the Opening Day event at our Linwood Field complex. This is a fun introduction for the families and players of NYSL. Practices and games start the third week of April and through early June. Dates vary with rain delays. 

The girls in U6 participate in a clinic-style program focused on learning the fundamentals of softball in a fun, supportive environment. They do not play games against other towns. Instead, each session is built around skill stations that introduce throwing, catching, hitting, base running, and overall confidence on the field. All sessions are held at the Linwood Complex, and the emphasis is on developing skills, teamwork, and a love for the game. The girls finish the season with a fun in-house showcase where they can demonstrate everything they've learned for family and friends.

The girls in U8 play their games against other NYSL teams. There are 2-3 games scheduled at the end of the season when we combine teams and play against surrounding towns. The number of games depends on the surrounding towns ability to participate. These are always a huge success as it allows the girls to showcase all they have learned and have the chance to play a full competitive game against another town. All games are played at the Linwood complex, except for the TBD combined games at the end of the season. 

The girls in U10-U16 play in the Blackstone Valley Girls Softball League (BVGSL). They will play their games against teams from other towns. Games are scored, standings are kept, and a playoff tournament is held during the last week of the season to determine the BVGSL champion for each division!
